Welcome to the Home of NUS UAV Research Team

Funded by the Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) of Singapore to Professor Ben M. Chen of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore, as a Temasek Young Investigator Award Project in 2003, the UAV research currently focuses on the construction of UAV helicopters and the design of automatic flight control systems using advanced nonlinear control techniques. The team has built up two fully functional UAV helicopters (HeLion) upgraded from a radio-controlled model with 1.41 m in length and 4.85 kg in weight. An onboard system is equipped on the helicopter with an embedded computer system, an inertial measurement unit (include GPS sensor), a data accquisition board, a wireless modem and a number of necessary sensors. Software for both the onboard system and the ground station has been developed to implement automatic control design and communications.
